Why is accurate spring measurement important?

Spring Length

Use a tape measure or a rigid ruler to obtain a precise measurement in millimeters.
Spring Diameter
Measure the inside diameter of the spring coil. Place your tape measure around the widest part of the spring for this measurement.
Wire Diameter
Measure the thickness of the wire that makes up the spring. This dimension is important for determining the spring's resistance and load capacity. To do this, count the number of wires over a 10cm length. If you count 6 and a half wires over 10 cm, then your spring wire is 6.5.
Practical Tips
